Setup checklist for new receptionists
Complete the required and recommended steps on your receptionist's overview page before going live.
The setup checklist
After creating a new receptionist, it starts in Draft status. The agent overview page shows an interactive setup checklist to help you get it live.
Required steps
These must be completed before your agent can take real calls:
Add a phone number. Go to Channels > Phone to provision or assign a number.
Make a test call. Use the built-in Test Call feature to verify your agent responds correctly.
Deploy your receptionist. Click Deploy to change the status from Draft to Active.
Recommended steps
These improve your agent's capabilities:
Connect a calendar. If appointment booking is enabled, link Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook so the agent checks your real availability.
Customize voice and language. Choose a voice, accent, and language for your agent.
Add knowledge content. Upload documents (FAQs, pricing sheets, policies) so the agent can answer common questions during calls.
Draft vs. Active
Draft agents show the setup checklist and do not receive calls.
Active agents show a dashboard of recent calls, bookings, and other stats, and accept incoming calls.
Configuration warnings
If your agent's setup is incomplete, you will see warnings on the overview page. Here is what each one means and how to fix it:
Calendar not connected. Your agent cannot check real appointment availability. Fix it: connect a calendar from the Channels tab.
Menu empty. Your agent cannot take phone orders. Fix it: add items in the Menu tab.
WhatsApp not enabled. Your agent cannot send WhatsApp follow-up messages. Fix it: connect a WhatsApp number from the Channels tab.
